How Often Should Tradespeople Follow Up Customer Quotes?
A good follow-up is timely, helpful and easy to answer. The right schedule depends on the urgency, value and complexity of the job.
A practical starting schedule
For most routine trade quotes, send the first follow-up after two business days, a second after five to seven days and a final check-in after roughly two weeks. Stop as soon as the customer responds.
Urgent repairs
For leaks, heating failures, roof damage and vehicle repairs, follow up within 24 hours because the customer is likely making a quick decision.
Large projects
Extensions, renovations and commercial contracts need more consideration. Allow three to five business days before the first reminder.
What to include
Mention the job, confirm that the quote was received and invite questions about scope, timing or price. Give the customer one clear next step.
